The Kenyatta University Directorate of TVET programmes was established in September 2020. One of the Directorate’s mandates is to coordinate the approval and licensing of Certificate and Diploma programmes by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). Eight TVET Diploma programmes have been approved by TVETA. The Directorate also coordinates the accreditation of the Kenyatta University Campuses as TVET Centres. The Main, Kitui, Mombasa and Nakuru campuses are accredited as TVET centres by TVETA. The Centres offer competency-based education training (CBET) curricula in the TVETA approved programmes.
The quality TVET programmes guarantee a strong link between the skills gained and the needs of the labour market by ensuring that the TVET graduates have superior employability and entrepreneurship skills. The Directorate is also committed to research to contribute to innovation and enterprise creation in collaboration with different institutions.
